Obsessed.

I'm obsessed with Mociun custom rings right now.

I love that the stone sizes don't match at all...so unique and awesome.

Art Schmart

I've always had a lot of blank wall space partly because I can never find art I like and partly because when I do it is so dang expensive.  For some reason I've recently gotten the art bug...maybe it's because I'm getting older and would rather invest in art than nights out on the town partying.

I came across this painting on Etsy and love it so much that I showed it to Alex.  People have very specific preferences when it comes to art and to be honest, I have no idea what Alex likes...but I have learned to veer away from anything too feminine when it comes to home decor in general.

Anyway, I thought the colors were soothing and a landscape is pretty classic...the only problem?  I really want something horizontal and not vertical.  I mentioned that I might contact the artist to see if we could commission something like what I wanted and Alex brought up the fact that we live in a very artsy area and could probably find someone to do it around here.

The next day he showed the picture to a few of the girls he works with and one said she would do it and for an unbelievably cheap price...so cheap that there is no way I could pay her that little for something so pretty!  I'll let you know when we have the painting hanging on our wall!

This is a poster.  I still can't really decide how I feel about posters as opposed to original art, but I'm thinking that if it were framed right it could work.  I came across it on Michelle Armas' blog.  I've always loved her art and had no idea she lived in Atlanta.

I just really love how dark and moody it is and yet its also a little bit whimsical.

I'm going to figure out how to do something like this in our guest bathroom.  From experience I've learned its not the best idea to put a lot on the back of a toilet...this one looks large and flat but usually they're much smaller and curved so things just don't want to stay put.  I still think I could come up with a few essentials that would work though.

Mainly, especially since this is an art post, I wanted to call out the map.  I've been wanting a raised relief map of the area and a bathroom would be a good place to put it since it wouldn't have glass that would get fogged up between the art and the glass when people shower...I hate that.

The bad news is that it wouldn't get viewed all that often since we rarely use that bathroom, but I'm still considering it.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

I've decided I need to invest in a skinny belt.  Both of these seem like good choices but I'm leaning more towards the one below.  It's clean and classic and I think I'd wear natural leather more than gold.

This dress is has really pretty details even though its hard to see in this pic...go to the web site and look at the green one to see for yourself.  I'm also kind of obsessed with that belt.  This dress is super cheap for Anthro so I'm kind of questioning the quality...it will prob show every lump and bump or be totally see though...but I still like it for now.

This book is so AWESOME.  It used to cost way more but now there is a paperback version that's way cheaper...its basically city guides for long weekend trips...how cool is that!

Birthday Suit

Yes, I know my birthday is still more than two months away, but that doesn't mean I can't start planning what I'll wear to celebrate.  This dress from Madewell is on my wish list.  It looks extremely flattering and very versatile!

Wish

I've been having trouble getting pictures to load and what fun would a post be without pictures.  I've finally discovered a work around so I can keep sharing with you until the problem gets resolved officially!

I wish I could get my hair to look like this.

I wish it was warm enough to go camping so I could try this out...might come in handy if the power goes sometime before it warms up!

I wish this little clutch from Gap was in my closet right now.  If they start making it in emerald green it will be.

I wish this didn't cost a zillion dollars, I think it would make a really cute coin purse.  Apparently Alex knows someone who works with leather so maybe he can get one made for me on the cheap!

Totes McGotes

With all the yarn and knitting tools I've purchased recently I've found myself in need of a new tote bag to lug it all around in.

I love the colorful patterns and fringe on this one...it could totally be DIYed

I love the climbing rope handles on this one.  It also has DIY potential.

This one is baggu from West Elm so naturally I love it.  I'm not normally a huge fan of monograms, but they showed it with a one letter monogram and I must say, I liked it!  You also can't really see from this pic, but it has a long handle as well.  I like the idea of different handle lengths!

On My Wishlist

Really want some gold stacking rings.

This clutch...of course I love it in blue, but I think if I actually purchased it I'd get it in gold.  Its Claire Vivier.

I also love the rest of the outfit pictured!

Mugs

A few years ago Katrina got me a great mug...and then another one for my birthday this year.  I love them so much I've decided to start a collection.  Here are a few other mugs on my wish list.  Let me know if you find other good mug sources I should check out!

Listed on Etsy here.

Terrain

Brook Farm General Store

Etsy here.  You can pick the glaze color and customize the writing, or have no writing at all.  The also make some pretty cool dog bowls that are on Sadie's wish list!

Etsy here.  I love the polka dots but not the little, low handle.  The great thing about Etsy is that you can usually email the seller and ask for things like a similar mug with a normal handle.

Wish List - For the Home

I always have about 3 running wish lists in my head.  Here are the things that are on the top of my home decor wish list.

Jute and Chenille herringbone rug from West Elm.  The jute will make it durable and the chenille will make it soft.  Perfect for under our bed since there is no carpet in our room.  I like that there is some pattern but that it still has a neutral color pallet...our bedroom has a lot of color in it already so we need something that will add just a touch of interest, nothing too bold or overwhelming!

Stacking metal bistro chairs from World Market.  They'll go at our kitchen table for now but could easily be used outside if we ever have a crowd over to grill out.

Baskets from Ghana...colorful but classic.  We literally have no baskets so I was thinking about getting something like this to contain all of Sadie's toys.

My Fantasy World

As I've said before, Alex gets full credit for bringing me out of the fantasy world where Robert Pattinson was my boyfriend and I worked as Mumford and Son's personal assistant...but sometimes I secretly let myself drift back to that world just a little bit and let myself live in my fantasy world vicariously though Pinterest.

In my fantasy world I live in a cute little bungalow like this.

...and I sleep in a bed like this, but don't worry, I don't have a redic chandy like the one in this room.

Outside there are perfectly planted pots in bloom, always.

Oh, and I have a neon chicken coup complete with chickens for fresh eggs every morning.  Please take note of the roof top garden on my chicken coup...its one of my fav features of the whole set-up.

When I have twilight movie marathons I snuggle up under this fab blanket.

When I have parties I simply make a meyer lemon garland like this one for the table from the meyer lemon tree I have.  That way guests feel like I've put work into creating a nice environment but it doesn't feel too fancy.

I pack for trips in this fad duffel...to be honest, this could actually be part of my real life, its a steal at only $99!

Every day I would eat goat cheese...like this goat cheese and roasted red pepper pasta.

And of course I'd have time to craft everything my little heart desired like these beaded friendship bracelets for all of you!

I Want It!

I keep seeing picture like this:

Reese in Kate Spade

That make me want this Anthro dress more and more.

Birthday Wishlist

I've been asked to compile a birthday wish list and while scouring the Internet for ideas I came across these two items...

These are stemless wine glasses from Crate and Barrel.  I like them because they aren't the same old style as most stemless wine glasses...and they could be used for white or red wine which eliminates the need for two different sets of wine classes.  I think they could even be used for whiskey drinks.  And the best part is they are $16 for 8 of them!  I'm going to try to go check them out in a store to make sure they feel good in your and because they seem too good to be true, but maybe they aren't (the reviews for them are all great).

As hard as it is for me to admit, I didn't exactly make the best choices when I origionally decorated my condo.  For example, I decided to use a yellow and white bath mat as a kitchen rug.  Mistake.  Especially for me since I am the worlds messiest cook.  It is always sained and grubby looking.  I've been looking for a replacement for quite a while and just can't seem to find anything.  I was thinking I'd come across a fab Turkish or Morrocan rug on Ebay but its hard to find small rugs.  I recently came across this one on Urbans website.  Its a rag rug so it wouldn't be super plush but it would be easy to throw in the wash and even though it has some purple and pink in it I don't think its super girly (I'm trying to manify my condo where I can so Alex feels more at home here).

Updates on Yesterday's posts

1.  That Gap white t-shrit really is long and loose fitting...its a little sheer but not any more than any of my other white t-shirts.

2.  The buckles on the toe of those Madewell sandals were a little much for me so I'm still on the hunt for the perf tan sandal...let me know if you come across any I should try out!

The Perfect White Tee

In addition to a good pair of neutral flats I also normally get a new white tee at the beginning of every spring.

Two years ago it came from J.Crew.  Last year it came from Madewell.  But this one from Gap popped up on a blog the other day and I'm dying to go try it on.  It looks slouchy and long and perfect.  We'll see if its actually that way in person...

You Get What You Pay For

That's Alex's motto when it comes to making purchases (except for totally outrageous purchases).  Now in the past, I've just purchased a pair of flat Steve Madden sandals at the beginning of spring.  Last year it was these:

I truly loved them and wore them a LOT, but by the end of the season they had to go in the trash...they were starting to come apart.

This year I was going to go with these...

But  I
recently upgraded the $10 black ballet flats I'd had for five years for a pair of Frye Carson flats and I absolutely love them.  They've been comfortable from the get go and I think they'll last for much more than a season or two.

Now I'm thinking about getting these Madewell sandals.  They might be twice as much as the Steve Madden pair but if they are well made it will totally be worth it.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

I don't know if these things are really that great or if the warmer sunny weather is getting to my head but this weeks picks have me super excited about spring...

This pot made me want to grow strawberries...not exactly sure why, but it did.

Love the bright colors and the cinched in waist.

When I first saw these I thought the screamed Hardee, then Katrina, then Nina C., then Suz, then me...since I thought they'd be just perf for so many people I decided to go ahead and post them.  Phwhy (that's FYI spelled phonetically...the phrase is used quite often around the slam house) I recommend wearing this shape with the points sticking out...I have a pair of similar shaped earrings and when you wear them with the points facing in the earrings get lost with the shape of your jaw...they're much more standout facing out!

Have I featured this dress before?  It was on my wishlist for a while but I took it off because I thought it was too plain and boring...but then I saw it again on a model and it made me reconsider it.  Sure its conservative but I think it could be pretty versatile and the reviews for this dress were outstanding!
