Craving a Little Mary Jane

I came across this pic on Pinterest today and it kind of made me want a pair of Mary Janes.

With this outfit they look good, but they also kind of remind me of my first grade self...I rocked some patent leather Mary Janes back in the day.

I found both these option on Zappos.

The one above I like, but the strap isn't has high so I'm not sure it would achieve a similar look.

The platform on these may be a little much.

More than likely I'll never come across the right pair.  It sure would be nice to have a strap to keep my shoes on when I'm wearing tights all winter long.

Liking me also worries me that I'm getting a little too Asheville in my fashion sense...my Atlanta self never would have considered these I'm pretty sure.

Time for a photo dump...

So, as most of you know I changed jobs a while back.  I'm loving my new job but it keeps me busy, real busy.  I'm constantly behind on Pinterest and blogs and as a result my own blog is suffering...but I'm going to try to get back into posting a little more regularly.  Here is a photo dump of all the things I've been saving to share with you...

Love this for a Christmas party invite.

1. At first I thought this was a pic of Kimberly.

2. Love that garland.  Perf for holiday festivities.

Love this stocking.

My fam needs new ones...Hardee, I might be telling my mom to request that you make some if you're willing to.

Still loving thin gold pic frames.

Baby Carhartt overalls...cold there be anything cuter?

Someday I will have a dinner party as classy as this.

These boots.

When I save them I was just lusting over them.  I was trying to decide between motorcycle boots and cowboy boots, and then I found these.  The perfect combo of both.

Then a 25% off all boots on Amazon coupon found its way to my inbox and I couldn't resist.  I talked my mom into letting them be a Christmas present but had them sent to my house to make sure I liked them and they fit.  I'm not technically allowed to wear them until Christmas, but sometimes I secretly wear them around the house when I'm by myself because I love them so much.

Sneaker Envy

Came across these two pics recently and they have me seriously wanting some sneakers to wear around town.  I found some that I like on Zappos...they're a 1983 style Nike shoe that they brought back (I think its fate that I have them since that is the year I was born) but of course they are sold out in my size so now I'm left waiting for an email from Zappos letting me know when they have them in stock again.

Also, I'm pretty sure this is actually a man, Marc Jacobs or Jonathan Adler...someone like that, but it still makes me want similar kicks.

Style Inspiration

Love the chambray/maxi skirt combo here.

This little lady's boots are pretty sweet.

Clog Cravings

I feel like every time I post an outfit I love I also comment that its not BMT appropriate.  At nearly 30 I think I've finally found a style that suits me and know how to dress my body, so just because I moved to a little mountain town I'm not going to go and change everything, but I've realized I need to make some small changes.

For heels this means no more stilettos.  That last post got me thinking about heels I could wear that would still look appropriate here and I've decided clogs are the way to go.  The style is still growing on me but I think its worth looking into.

First I found these, the Ugg Chrissie.   Let me just tell you, I am the queen of finding obscure things on the Internet and these can not be found except for in HUGE sizes.

Then I considered these, the Ugg Kaylee, but I feel like I would walk right out of them.  I do like the braided detail though.

These are the Frye Naiya clog, I liked the idea of a back strap, but these are just too tall.  I try to stay under 4" even with a platform.

I think these might be the winner, the Ugg Dafni.  I have cognac colored boots so I figured I didn't need another pair of brown shoes for the winter.  These have a back strap and the right sized heel.  In my head I think they could be worn with tights...but we'll see!

One last thing, I should probably be taking this as a hint, but all these styles are 30 - 40% off on Zappos!

Birkenstocks?

Maybe Asheville is getting to me, but this picture really makes me want a pair of Birkenstock clogs.

Maybe I could go for the newer Bern style...the t-strap makes them a little more feminine and stylish right?

Minx

Minx is one of my fav new boutiques I've discovered in Asheville.  Its become my go to place to shop now that the closest Anthro is 1.5 - 2 hours away.

This outfit caught my eye because it looks relaxed but put together and I think I could create it using pieces I already have in my closet.

Silk top - don't I have something like that from Anthro or Madewell?

Dark skinny jeans - check.  and I love the small cuff/rolling

Flats - I might try substituting Toms or Mocs.

Here is their website if you want to check it out: Minx

The post outfits daily for inspiration and if you want me to go pick something up for you I'd be happy to do some personal shopping on your behalf!

Updates on Yesterday's posts

1.  That Gap white t-shrit really is long and loose fitting...its a little sheer but not any more than any of my other white t-shirts.

2.  The buckles on the toe of those Madewell sandals were a little much for me so I'm still on the hunt for the perf tan sandal...let me know if you come across any I should try out!

You Get What You Pay For

That's Alex's motto when it comes to making purchases (except for totally outrageous purchases).  Now in the past, I've just purchased a pair of flat Steve Madden sandals at the beginning of spring.  Last year it was these:

I truly loved them and wore them a LOT, but by the end of the season they had to go in the trash...they were starting to come apart.

This year I was going to go with these...

But  I
recently upgraded the $10 black ballet flats I'd had for five years for a pair of Frye Carson flats and I absolutely love them.  They've been comfortable from the get go and I think they'll last for much more than a season or two.

Now I'm thinking about getting these Madewell sandals.  They might be twice as much as the Steve Madden pair but if they are well made it will totally be worth it.

Pinterest Picks

I want Alex to get a pair of "dress" shoes like these...neon laces and all.

Aww...heart shaped bacon.  Valentine's Day doesn't get any better than this!

DIY "hurricanes" for all the romantic outside dinners I plan to have this summer.

If I ever own a store this will def be on the door!

This pic makes me want to skinny dip.  There I said it.

I ordered my chambray shirt..don't know if I'll wear it as part of an outfit quite like this, but I still think its good inspiration!

Things of Importance in this Picture...

1. William obvi got Kate a puppy for her 30th birthday.  Lucky.

2. I recently told Alex he was not allowed to buy a similar hat because I didn't think anyone could successfully pull off that style.  I was wrong William can, but I still think that muggles CAN NOT.

3. Nina has the same boots as Kate...I may start calling her Princess or Duchess Nina.

Is it Spring Yet?

If my Anthropologie Items of the Week post didn't convince you that I'm already dreaming of spring maybe my newest shoe selections will.  The black one is Dolce Vita and the tan one is Steve Madden...both are for sale on Piperlime!

Madewell New Arrivales

All of these have been added to my wishlist:

Lumberjack shirt...perfect for Georgia games on the couch.

Like the shirt, but can't decide on the color...maybe both?

Killer jacket.

Basic black flats...mine are about 5 years old and set me back about $20 when I got them...I think its time for an upgrade.

Bootie Bootie Bootie Rockin Everywhere?

Ok, so I kind of want a pair of black booties this winter.  Why?  Well for beginners, I learned pretty quickly a few years back that you can't just throw on tights with any old pair of shoes.  Case and point: First day wearing tights to work in years...wore them with pointy toed pumps (don't judge me it was 4 years ago and I was still developing my style) and walked out of my shoes at work all day because the tights made my pump so slippery.

I thought I wised up by getting a pair of rounded toe t-strap shoes which did solve the problem of walking out of my shoes...but they hurt like crazy if I wore them for more than an hour or two.

Thus the need for booties.  Here's the problem...as you might have guessed based on my search for the perfect coffee table basket I might be a little too picky for my own good.  Ok I admit it, I totally am...I once refused to buy a pair of New Balance running shoes because the N on the them was too big...true story.  Any ways...I have the perfect bootie in mind, I just can't seem to find it for a reasonable price and since booties are a trend and not a classic I don't want to spend a ton of mullah on them.

I spotted the perfect booties on the girl from the Could I Have That blog.  I like booties that have a v in the front and don't just look like a chopped off pair of boots.

They are made by a company called Ash and retail for $225.

These are Michael Kors and are $167...but of course I don't love them nearly as much.

Will y'all keep an eye out for the perfect black bootie and let me know if you find it?

Honeymooners

Its been four months since their wedding, but Reese Witherspoon and her new husband Jim Toth are finally happy honeymooners.  How cute is her outfit (love the scarf and shoes) this pic of the happy couple?

Seeing Red

Remember this red purse I ordered from Gilt?  I got it and I love it!

The color is so vibrant and now I need want some more read accesories to wear with it...or on their own.  I think my next purchase will be red shoes, they just add such a fun pop of color to an outfit without being too overwhelming!

Bronx Shoes as seen on Shoes.com...and they're super cheap too!

Dolce Vita as seen on Shoes.com...a little more expensive but still reasonable.

Kate Spade as seen on Zappos.com...on sale now for a mere $200...these are totally fab but I'm going to hold out and see if they go on sale even more.

I think my sudden interest in all things red might have to go with the fact that we're getting closer and closer to the start of football season...

GOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS, SICK EM!

I NEED THESE!

Yet another pic from Cup of Jo.  When I got back from Iowa I had 602 blog post waiting for me to read, that's right SIXHUNDREDANDTWO!

I caught up on all the good ones like Comprising Kate, Urban Grace and Cup of Jo first so forgive me for having so many inspiration post from the same blog for you.

Apparently these are called Salt Water sandals.  I love them.  I need them.  Seriously.

Do you think I need a pair like these red ones to wear with a black maxi dress to the Georgia vs. Ole Miss game this fall?  I do.

New Balance Hiking Boots?

New Balance just came out with a hiking boot...they're even selling them at J.Crew.  Here's a little expert about them from the designer...
Tell us about the 710. What was your hope when originally designing the boot—was there a void you were looking to fill, something that you felt was missing from all the other boots out there?

There was definitely a void. Conventional thinking at the time dictated that climbers wear rigid boots to support the ankle and prevent it from rolling. But a stiff boot is like a corset for your ankle—it constricts the muscles and actually prevents them from developing and building up strength. And the reality is that all a climber really needs—even when carrying a 60- or 80-lb. pack—is to not slip. A boot with good traction and some stiffness in the sole is the key, and the more lightweight it is, the better. That’s why the New Balance 710 was such a breakthrough.

I kind of love this idea.  I had the most awesome pair of hiking boots that I got way back when I was in high school.  Sadly they failed to make it through one of my many moves in college but I haven't been able to make myself buy a new pair because most boots make me feel like a lesbian...I'm feeling pretty optimistic about these though!
