Style and Beauty Inspiration

 

Love the idea of a basic sweatshirt pair with a casual skirt.  I found a neon coral sweatshirt at Gap the other day that's broken in and super soft.  I'm obsessed.

 

How beautiful is this hair and makeup.  Must. Learn. Liquid liner.

 

I pretty much already have all of this but I still love the look.

 

White tee. Scarf. Sunnies. Beachy waves. Chunky gold cuff...need one of those!

Randoms Round Up

 

This is what I want for breakfast tomorrow...toast, avocado, bacon and a poached egg.  It will probably leave me feeling like death since I recently found out I'm allergic to egg yolk, but the pain and suffering will be so worth it!

 

Love two elements...but I think they would work in any room, not just a nursery.

 

1. Green velvet drapes...I recently got new throw pillows for my couch that are a similar fabric and love them when they aren't covered in Sadie fur.

 

2.  The light fixture.  Want one SO badly.

 

I like the way this wreath is hung as opposed to using one of the cheap over the door hooks I usually use.

 

I could totally recreate this look with things I already have in my closet...I just don't normally think to belt tunics for some reason.

 

Isn't this a festive cake?  It's been all over Pinterest recently.  I don't quite get how the balloons are standing up and not falling over since they're water balloons and don't have helium in them, but oh well.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

 

I'd seen this dress online and didn't think much of it, but then I saw it on one of the girls who worked at Anthro last weekend and fell in love.  I ordered in black and have been checking every day to see if its on my door step.  Its in contention to be my birthday outfit!

 

I love the idea of maxi dresses, but usually they are so flowy that they are completely unflattering on me.  I like that this one is fitted through the waist and for less than $100 its a steal for Anthropologie!

 

This is another one I saw online and considered but didn't think would be flattering despite all the good reviews...well, I got a similar shirt last weekend and can't tell you how many compliments I've received about it (even from a 60+ lady in my book club...more to come on that story later) so now I want this one too.  You can never have enough striped shirts.  This one says spring but will we wearable now since I don't think it will actually feel like spring around here for a long time!

Art Schmart

I've always had a lot of blank wall space partly because I can never find art I like and partly because when I do it is so dang expensive.  For some reason I've recently gotten the art bug...maybe it's because I'm getting older and would rather invest in art than nights out on the town partying.

 

 

I came across this painting on Etsy and love it so much that I showed it to Alex.  People have very specific preferences when it comes to art and to be honest, I have no idea what Alex likes...but I have learned to veer away from anything too feminine when it comes to home decor in general.

 

Anyway, I thought the colors were soothing and a landscape is pretty classic...the only problem?  I really want something horizontal and not vertical.  I mentioned that I might contact the artist to see if we could commission something like what I wanted and Alex brought up the fact that we live in a very artsy area and could probably find someone to do it around here.

 

The next day he showed the picture to a few of the girls he works with and one said she would do it and for an unbelievably cheap price...so cheap that there is no way I could pay her that little for something so pretty!  I'll let you know when we have the painting hanging on our wall!

 

This is a poster.  I still can't really decide how I feel about posters as opposed to original art, but I'm thinking that if it were framed right it could work.  I came across it on Michelle Armas' blog.  I've always loved her art and had no idea she lived in Atlanta.

 

I just really love how dark and moody it is and yet its also a little bit whimsical.

 

I'm going to figure out how to do something like this in our guest bathroom.  From experience I've learned its not the best idea to put a lot on the back of a toilet...this one looks large and flat but usually they're much smaller and curved so things just don't want to stay put.  I still think I could come up with a few essentials that would work though.

 

Mainly, especially since this is an art post, I wanted to call out the map.  I've been wanting a raised relief map of the area and a bathroom would be a good place to put it since it wouldn't have glass that would get fogged up between the art and the glass when people shower...I hate that.

 

The bad news is that it wouldn't get viewed all that often since we rarely use that bathroom, but I'm still considering it.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

 

If I get this Alex will say I already have about 5 shirts that look exactly the same...but you can never have too many shirts like this right?  It does say its shimmery which might make it less desirable to me...we'll see.

 

Notice the statement necklace with that shirt above?  This isn't she same one but I like it.  The chain is a bit questionable, but having a long statement necklace needs to me in my near future.

 

This dress looks like it would be flattering and comfortable.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

 

I've decided I need to invest in a skinny belt.  Both of these seem like good choices but I'm leaning more towards the one below.  It's clean and classic and I think I'd wear natural leather more than gold.

 

This dress is has really pretty details even though its hard to see in this pic...go to the web site and look at the green one to see for yourself.  I'm also kind of obsessed with that belt.  This dress is super cheap for Anthro so I'm kind of questioning the quality...it will prob show every lump and bump or be totally see though...but I still like it for now.

 

This book is so AWESOME.  It used to cost way more but now there is a paperback version that's way cheaper...its basically city guides for long weekend trips...how cool is that!

I'm starting a pottery class in a few weeks...I think I'll start with something easy (and practical) like this...anyone else want one?

 

Michelle Armas for Anthropologie.  I like the one on the wall...its darker and less girly than her reqular stuff.  Too bad having something comissioned would probably cost an arm and a leg!

 

Mr. and Mrs. glasses...I think these are going to be my go to engagement party/shower gift this year!

This will be in my house some day.  Custom shelving...the storage drawers would be so useful and I like that there are also bookshelves for display!
