That's a Whole Lot of Love

In the midst of record-breaking winter weather, nothing was more heartwarming this holiday season than the amount of celebrities getting engaged.

The Christmas cheer kicked off with a touchdown: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, 30, proposed to TV anchor Candice Crawford, 24, on her birthday, Dec. 16. Just four days later, Shania Twain, 45, announced her plans to wed Swiss executive Frédéric Thiébaud, 40, although the couple had already been engaged months prior.

The merriment continued: Bret Michaels, 47, finally asked his on-off girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Gibson, 39, to be his wife in the most public way possible – on his VH1 reality show. Ginnifer Goodwin, 32, too, was celebrating both the holidays and an engagement: The Big Love star announced that her beau, Joey Kern, 34, had popped the question earlier in December.

And the engagement ring continued to emerge as a hot ticket item: Hugh Hefner, 84, proposed to Playmate Crystal Harris, 24, on Christmas Eve. Already in the spotlight because of her starring role in the much-buzzed-about Black Swan, Natalie Portman, 29, revealed that she is engaged and pregnant with her first child with choreographer Benjamin Millepied, 33, whom the Golden Globe-nominated star met while filming.

After shrugging off rumors she was engaged in November, LeAnn Rimes, 28, finally made it official with Eddie Cibrian, 37 – and a 5-carat diamond sparkler.

Also rocking new bling: Reese Witherspoon, 34, who got engaged to Hollywood agent Jim Toth, 40, over the holidays with a 4-carat Ashoka diamond ring.
