Tunes on Tuesdays

I love Christmas music and soundtracks.  Here are my picks for "various artist" Christmas CDs...they're kind of like Christmas soundtracks if you ask me.

The Hotel Cafe presents: Winter Songs
I got this one last year, but I still really love it.  I even listened to it in August when it was 100 degrees out because it made me feel like it was a little cooler out...and also because I couldn't wait until the day after Thanksgiving when it was actually appropriate to listen to it.

Ten out of Tenn Christmas
This one is a bunch of singer/song writers out of Nashville.  I think its pretty great to as are their non-holiday CDs...you should def check them out as well.

What are y'all's fav Christmas songs/CDs?

Breaking Dawn Official Picture

This is the first official picture from breaking dawn.  It might not mean anything to those of you who haven't read the books, but if you have I think you know what it means.

Elton John Will Jam Out at William and Kate's Wedding

Elton John has hinted he will likely have a role in Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding celebration – even if he has to set up his piano outside the gates of Westminster Abbey.

The British singer, 63, who famously performed at the 1997 funeral of William's mother, Princess Diana, and at her memorial concert a decade later, was asked about the wedding on BBC Radio.

He replied that he'll "probably" perform – but quickly quipped, "I'll probably be outside busking."

Next Wednesday, Dec. 1, for World AIDS Day, John will be guest-editing the British newspaper the Independent, but he told BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright not to expect too much royal-wedding coverage. "I think we've had enough of that for the time being," he said.

Meanwhile, William and Kate were at the Buckingham Palace together on Thursday holding meetings with their aids. Palace officials say invitations have yet to go out for the April 29 wedding, and they won't comment on possible big names on the guest list.

"It is all speculation," a palace spokeswoman tells PEOPLE. "Nothing has been determined. We are still in discussions. They are only now sitting down and starting to think about things."

The guest list is likely to include ordinary people from charities associated with the couple and members of the armed forces.

A report in the Daily Mail suggests that Diana's brother, Earl Spencer, will have a key role at the wedding, perhaps even making a speech, but the palace rep would not confirm that.

Its a Boy!

While no one is happier about the arrival of Benjamin Travolta, born Nov. 23, than parents Kelly Preston and John Travolta (with the possible exception of "ecstatic" big sister Ella Bleu), friends of the famous family are also reveling in the news.

"We are completely overjoyed about the birth of Benjamin," says producer pal Keisha Whitaker, who along with her husband, actor Forest Whitaker, has been close with Preston and Travolta for years. "We love them so much. This feels like full circle."

Benjamin certainly inherited a great sense of timing from his movie star parents. "It's absolutely wonderful that Kelly gave birth to such a big strapping boy," said producer Donald Zuckerman, who worked with Preston on both the upcoming movie Casino Jack, and 2006's Broken Bridges. "His birthday will be [around] Thanksgiving Day, which is wonderful and very fitting after the ordeal that they went through," he added, referring to the loss of the couple's son Jett in 2009.

This Makes Me Want to Vom

It's been a busy travel weekend for most Americans – and especially for Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Two days after enjoying maple lattes together in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Thanksgiving, Swift and Gyllenhaal popped up in the singer's hometown of Nashville.

On Saturday afternoon, the couple were spotted getting a late breakfast at Fido, a coffeehouse and café near Vanderbilt University and Music Row.

"They were smiling and laughing. They were talking a lot and enjoying each other's company," fellow diner Elaina Mishu tells PEOPLE. "They didn't look like [just] friends."

Customer Emma Rice, who snapped a photo of the pair, calls the duo "very cute" and says, "They seemed close."

The singer, 20, and actor, 29, were first spotted together in late October.  And while Gyllenhaal has avoided commenting on his relationship with Swift, they aren't hiding their affection.

"They were not trying to be discreet by any means," another eyewitness says of the pair, who sat at a table near a window. "They were definitely a couple. They looked very happy."

Bahaha...

Country-music legend Willie Nelson was arrested Friday in Texas and charged with marijuana possession after police allegedly found six ounces of marijuana on his tour bus.

The bus was stopped at the Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, east of El Paso, reports the El Paso Times. He posted bond and was released.  Nelson, 77, was headed from California to Austin, where he owns a ranch.

Nelson could face a minimum of six months in prison if convicted. Hudspeth County sheriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times that Nelson would be treated like any inmate if incarcerated in his jail.

"He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I'm going to make him cook and clean," West said. "He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do."

Nelson could argue that he forgot the marijuana was on the bus when he left California, where medical marijuana is legal.

Have you guys ever been to a Willie Nelson concert?  If you ever get a chance you def should go...its quite an experience.

Save the Date

Mark your calendars: Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen a wedding date!  The Royal wedding will take place on Friday, April 29, 2011, according to the British Monarchy Twitter. It will take place at Westminster Abbey, the venue for the 1947 wedding of the then Princess Elizabeth, William's grandmother the Queen.

The couple, both 28, have got their wish to have a relatively early ceremony. William is known to have wanted as short an engagement as was practical, PEOPLE understands, and they both wanted a spring wedding.

Early clues as to the venue came only a day after their November 16 engagement, when Kate was seen leaving the Abbey where she was given a tour by officials.

Sources early Tuesday said that despite the fact it can seat 2,000 guests, the couple like the Abbey's "intimacy." The palace officials have also announced that the Royal Family and will pay for the church service, the music and parties. The cost of security – likely to run into millions – will be met by the British taxpayers.

Meanwhile, the couple are continuing their lives as they had been pre-engagement. Catherine Middleton, as the palace calls her, was seen shopping at upmarket superstore Waitrose in Menai Bridge, not far from the home that the prince rents in North Wales.

It will also be a public holiday in the U.K, the Prime Minister David Cameron announced. There is already the May Day holiday on the following Monday, making for a festive four-day weekend for the country.

Looking Good TSwift

Sorry for the lack of posts this morning, I feel like death.  Yesterday I attributed my nausea to the binge drinking I did over the weekend, but now I'm starting to think maybe I'm actually sick.

Anyways...this is the best I've seen TSwift look in a long time, or maybe the best ever.  Its a pic from the American Music Awards.

Green Lantern Movie Trailer

I'll go see it if for no other reason that to stare at Ryan Reynolds.

Fab Find Friday II

This thing is so cool!  Here's more about it:

Jawbone Jambox wireless brick speaker and speaker-phone.

The folks behind the Jawbone wireless Bluetooth headsets have always defied convention. When Jawbone was first introduced in 2006, the privately-held San Francisco outfit ran loud weed whackers during calls to emphasize the headset's ability to suppress background noises. More recently, Jawbone introduced voice dialing and information apps for its Icon-branded Bluetooth earpiece.

Now Jawbone is applying its craft to a small brick that doubles as a wireless stereo speaker and speakerphone called Jambox. It's meant to work wirelessly with smartphones, computers, tablets, iPods and any other Bluetooth devices.

You get surprisingly rich sound out of the palm-sized 12-ounce brick speaker, which is encased in rubber. Inside is a pair of powerful acoustic drivers and a tiny dome that Jawbone claims produces an audio spectrum almost as wide as the human ear itself. On the outside are volume and talk buttons, plus a 3.5mm connector for use when you don't have a Bluetooth device.

The Bluetooth range is up to about 33 feet, the company says. The built-in microphone (for speakerphone calls) only works with Bluetooth.

Jambox is compatible with Jawbone apps. An audio voice tells you if the battery needs charging or says the phone number of an incoming caller aloud. The voice also piped in when I first "paired" the Jambox to my iPhone during Bluetooth set-up, which was a cinch.

Jawbone pays attention to aesthetic design too. Jambox comes in four colors (mine was Black Diamond in marketing-speak.) It is packaged in a shoebox with the picture of an old-fashion boom box on the cover. The words underneath: "That was then…"

Because of its small size, light weight and sturdy build, you can throw Jambox in a bag and easily schlep it to an office, hotel room or vacation home. Jawbone claims battery life of about 8 hours for Jambox. (You charge it via Micro USB.) Its on sale in Apple and Best Buy Stores for $199.

I know I said I was going to save music posts for Tuesdays, but this one can't wait...plus it won't be a new band to most of you so I figure it doesn't really count.  I finally pulled myself away from Mumford and Son's to listen to the newest Kings of Leon CD and its pretty good...check it out if you haven't already.

Fab Find Friday

Though touch-screen-equipped gloves have been around for a couple of years, they've generally been limited to boxy athletic styles. This season, Echo is introducing a handful of new varieties that are stylish and functional. Done up in cozy wool and an array of punchy colors, the brand's quilted driving gloves also feature textured fabric on the fingers for searching, scrolling, and dialing your various gadgets. The design perk makes the winter a little more bearable, letting you look up a restaurant, switch songs, or make a call without losing feeling in your fingers.

These are so great and they actually work.  You can use your iPhone/iPod without taking your gloves off so your hands stay toasty and warm!  Buy them at Nordstrom's or at Bloomingdale's

Tunes on Tuesdays

Opps...I never posted this yesterday...pretend for a moment that its still Tuesday.

I'm going to start a new feature on Tuesdays...each week I'll share something with you I'm digging...either a new song or a new artist or something like that.

This week's pick is Ellie Goulding 'Your Song.' It isn't a Christmas song, but it could def go on a Winter mix.

Send me songs, artists, and videos you come across and they just might make it on future "Tunes on Tuesdays" posts!

Hello Daisy

No wonder she had a certain sparkle in her eye on the red carpet for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards last night—ending weeks of speculation, British actress Carey Mulligan officially won the coveted role of Daisy Buchanan in the film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Carey reportedly burst into tears—in front of Karl Lagerfeld, no less!—when director Baz Luhrmann called her before the start of the awards and said, “Hello, Daisy Buchanan.”

On the Rocks

Rumor has it he cheated and she'll be filing for divorce soon.

Her Eggo is Prego

Pink and her husband Carey Hart recently confirmed they are pregnant with their first child.

Ryan Reynolds = Sexiest Man Alive

I couldn't agree more.

Sure, his chiseled abs have caused millions to swoon, but this year's Sexiest Man Alive Ryan Reynolds loves to keep them laughing.  "My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke," says the 6'2" actor, who suits up as the Green Lantern next year. "When I stop training, I turn into a skin-colored whisper."

We doubt that. From growing up the youngest of four brothers in Canada to being the funny guy in films like The Proposal, Reynolds has learned to take everything in stride. "You just have to go with the flow," he says of his new title. "This gives my family entre into teasing me for the rest of my life. "

The actor does expect a few new perks at home with his wife of two years, Scarlett Johansson. "Now it's going to be, 'Sexiest man, take out the garbage.' That does sound better," Reynolds says. "The most difficult part is going to be organically.

Bahaha...I love him.

What Is She Wearing?

I think SJP borrowed something from Bellatrix (Black) Lestrange's wardrobe when she attended the movie's NYC premier.

Emma's Hair isn't Growing Out, but it is Growing on Me.

What do you guys think?  Do you like it more the more you see it like me?

Kate's Ring

William proposed with his mother's engagement ring.

Diana got to chose her own ring from a selection presented by Garrard Jewelers when Prince Charles proposed to her. There are a few different theories on why Diana selected the 18-carat oval sapphire surrounded by 14 diamonds: the color matched her eyes, the Queen may have actually selected it, or as Diana was later quoted as saying, “It was the biggest.”
