The Perfect White Tee

In addition to a good pair of neutral flats I also normally get a new white tee at the beginning of every spring.

Two years ago it came from J.Crew.  Last year it came from Madewell.  But this one from Gap popped up on a blog the other day and I'm dying to go try it on.  It looks slouchy and long and perfect.  We'll see if its actually that way in person...

You Get What You Pay For

That's Alex's motto when it comes to making purchases (except for totally outrageous purchases).  Now in the past, I've just purchased a pair of flat Steve Madden sandals at the beginning of spring.  Last year it was these:

I truly loved them and wore them a LOT, but by the end of the season they had to go in the trash...they were starting to come apart.

This year I was going to go with these...

But  I
recently upgraded the $10 black ballet flats I'd had for five years for a pair of Frye Carson flats and I absolutely love them.  They've been comfortable from the get go and I think they'll last for much more than a season or two.

Now I'm thinking about getting these Madewell sandals.  They might be twice as much as the Steve Madden pair but if they are well made it will totally be worth it.

Birthday Plates

Since the month of Sarah is just right around the corner...

We grew up with one of these plates and got to eat off it every year on our birthdays.  It was a great tradition, but how much cooler would it be to paint your own plate for special occasions?!

I love the candles but I really love the celebrate plate...especially since it could also be used for any sort of accomplishment...not just birthdays!

Who wants to go plate painting with me?

Pop of Color

I love that this vintage looking print was matted with bright chartreuse...so unexpected and bold!

Anthropologie Items of the Week

I don't know if these things are really that great or if the warmer sunny weather is getting to my head but this weeks picks have me super excited about spring...

This pot made me want to grow strawberries...not exactly sure why, but it did.

Love the bright colors and the cinched in waist.

When I first saw these I thought the screamed Hardee, then Katrina, then Nina C., then Suz, then me...since I thought they'd be just perf for so many people I decided to go ahead and post them.  Phwhy (that's FYI spelled phonetically...the phrase is used quite often around the slam house) I recommend wearing this shape with the points sticking out...I have a pair of similar shaped earrings and when you wear them with the points facing in the earrings get lost with the shape of your jaw...they're much more standout facing out!

Have I featured this dress before?  It was on my wishlist for a while but I took it off because I thought it was too plain and boring...but then I saw it again on a model and it made me reconsider it.  Sure its conservative but I think it could be pretty versatile and the reviews for this dress were outstanding!

Robert Update...

Robert Pattinson has a shaved head.

He also has a new movie coming out March 2nd...its a period piece.  Who wants to go see it with me?  I'm sure it will be totally fab.

Cork Art and Sugar Boo Designs

I came across a picture on Pinterest the other day with this driftwood heart used as wall decor (I couldn't find the actual picture so this one of just the heart will have to do).

It reminded me of these drift wood peace signs by Sugar Boo Designs (the also have a heart version).

Drift wood might be a little too beachy for my decor but I'm thinking about trying to recreate them with all the corks I've saved up over the years.

Here are a few art prints from Sugar Boo...I just love all their stuff and its even cooler to me that the artist is from Roswell!

Anyhtopologie Items of the Week

I didn't forget about this post yesterday, they've just been saving all the good stuff for Fridays!

This shirt would be perf for date nights!

I will never have too many plaid shirts...and I don't have one anywhere close to this color combo.  Plus its patriotic.  Done.

Pinterest Picks

I want Alex to get a pair of "dress" shoes like these...neon laces and all.

Aww...heart shaped bacon.  Valentine's Day doesn't get any better than this!

DIY "hurricanes" for all the romantic outside dinners I plan to have this summer.

If I ever own a store this will def be on the door!

This pic makes me want to skinny dip.  There I said it.

I ordered my chambray shirt..don't know if I'll wear it as part of an outfit quite like this, but I still think its good inspiration!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from me and all the Cullens!

The Prefect Chambray Search

I've been on the hunt for the perfect chambray shirt for quite a while now.  I found a few at Madewell...one was too distressed and one was a shrunken fit...seriously, chambray shirts are supposed to look effortlessly chic, who wants a tight one, really?!  Then there was one at J.Crew...they showed it on a model with a black suit skirt and I got really jazzed about the idea of wearing chambray to work and still looking professional...but their shirt was way stiff and way boxy.

I was just about to give up on getting a chambray shirt when I spotted the perfect one on a friend of Alex's over New Year's.  She just had it on with leggings and while I'm usually opposed to leggings as pants it totally worked since the shirt was long and oversized. The girl who was wearing it has such a cool style and I was embarrassed to ask her where she got it from.  Then while returning something at Urban today I spotted the shirt again!

Once again the pic does not do it justice, just trust me on this one.  Also trust me when I say I will never wear mine tucked into a skin tight mini skirt.

Of course I had to also scope one out for Alex since he mentioned wanting a Canadian tuxedo the other night.  This one is also from Urban.  Of course I'll have to work on him when it comes to choosing what to wear it with.  He knows that his normal jeans just won't do (we've gone over looking too monochromatic many times before) but he seems to think that dark jeans = fancy jeans so he won't wear them.  Maybe this shirt will change his mind.  Who knows.

Anthropologie Items of the Week

I didn't think I was going to have anything for this week...its been a slow week for Anthro and new arrivals...but then I went to the store to browse during my lunch break and found two dresses to feature this week.  I'd seen them online before and I didn't think much of them, but they really wowed me in person so they made it to my wishlist!

So this one I actually saw this week on an actress that was doing an interview on a morning TV show.  It looked really good on her so I decided to give it a try myself...very flattering and perfect for weddings!  Pair with nude shoes and pink lipstick (just trust me on this one, the combo will make you look radiant).

This one was much shorter and more playful in person (the pic really doesn't do it justice).  I wasn't sure about the dropped waist even though I hear they are going to be huge this year but it actually looked good on.  While I was in the dressing room I thought to myself that the dress would be cuter with a little more of a cinched waist...then when I was walking out of the store I saw the dress on a mannequin with a tribal/geometric belt and it made the waist look better plus it toughened up the dress a little since its very girley to begin with.  I highly recommend this dress.

Finally, no pic with this one but, I snagged myself a pair of those fleece lined leggings I featured a while back.  They are super soft and beyond cozy...I tried them on and didn't want to take them off.  They are on clearance now so you have no excuse not to get yourself a pair!

Pinterest Picks

My mom always makes peanut butter chocolate star cookies for Christmas...but how cute are these with Dove hearts for Valentines day?!

Love this giant chalkboard as art.  It says its canvas but I think plywood would work way better and it would be cheaper!

Blueberry french toast bake. Yes please.

I just really love this little dining area...the Anthro rhino bust, the open shelves, all the plants... I could go on and on.

Again with the open shelves...and the industrial stools and lighting.  I like it.  A lot.

Feeling Shifty

Remember a while back when I wanted a basic black shift dress but couldn't seem to find one anywhere?  I just came across this one at Kate Spade and I think it might be a winner...especially since its 75% off!  I'm going to go try it on tomorrow so you just might see me wearing it out on the town this weekend!

It has an exposed zipper in the back and I'd totally rock it with a top knot too!

1,000!

I'm pretty sure I've convinced Alex that I no longer live in a fantasy world where Robert Pattinson is my boyfriend and I work as a personal assistant for Mumford and Sons...but since its my 1,000th post I'm going to be honest.  I still love them.

So JFK.  Love it.

Can't wait to see them again!

Kinfolk Magazine

I really love these pics from Kinfolk magazine.  I know they're a little hipster, but they're also pretty dreamy.

Would you just die if you ever saw Alex in a tank and jean shorts?!

These make me want to go on a picnic

...and frolic in a stream afterwards

...then have dinner in the garden (but I won't dress like a grandma).

Fab Find

I'm not waiting until Friday for this one since I've posted about Baggu bags before but these are seriously so fab I feel like I need to revisit them.

I have finally gotten myself in the habit of ALWAYS bringing reusable bags into the grocery store.  I even bring them to the mall and whip them out at stores like Madewell and Anthro now.

I got a couple of these guys for Christmas after seeing them on Urban Grace.  They are great reusable bags that look cool and the best part is that the fold easily into the little bags they come in and then slip right in your purse.  A lot of reusable bags are bulky...I can assure you that these are not.

Here are the ones that are at the top of my wishlist.  If you do not take it upon yourself to get a few baggu bags for yourself I may start using them as "wrapping paper" just so I have an excuse to share them!

This one is a baby baggu...its perf for lunches.

For when you're feeling a little foxy.

Stripes.  Enough said.

Love.

Looks I Love

Loving Katherine McPhee's hair...both the length and the loose curls.  I'm going to get a hair cut Friday, maybe I'll chop some of my length off...who knows.

This outfit is really nothing special, but it caught my eye none the less.  Totally a look muggles like us could pull off.  No need to be a celeb.
