I love both these outfits. They're from a line called Whit. I wish they weren't so expensive...guess I'll have to be on the hunt for similar looks at a more reasonable price!

Porches Should Not be an Afterthought
My mom read this quote to us out of a magazine over the weekend and I couldn't agree with it more. Because of the mild temperatures, minimal humidity in the mountains and the fact that we still do not have a kitchen table we spend a lot of time on our porch. Here is some inspiration for the porch I've gathered recently...
We pretty much always have an empty bottle of wine on hand and I think this would be a fun way to repurpose them...especially if we could find citronella oil to use to keep the bugs away. Not sure how our land lord would feel about us drilling hole in the porch posts...but its worth asking about!
We already have mint, oregano, chives and rosemary growing in pots on the deck but we'd like to add tomatoes and basil to our little potted garden and we're thinking a hanging basket will be the perfect way to do that. The plan is to plant basil in the middle and let some grape or cherry tomato vines hang down the side. We'll see if we can actually pull it off...
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats
I just finished this book. If you're looking for a quick and easy summer read that won't leave you feeling down in the dumps I highly recommend it.
I read it for my book club and it has just the right amount of mystery mixed with a beautiful love story and the plot is unlike anything I've ever read.

Darling, Let's Go to the Market
I know this is slightly out of season for most of you, but we've been having fall like weather in Black Mountain and we also have a farmers market so naturally these pictures caught my eye.
Alex and I don't look nearly as chic when we go to the farmer's market but this gives us something to aspire to!
Madewell Items of the Week
I didn't add anything fro Anthropologie to my wishlist this week so I'm showing you a few things from Madewell that caught my eye instead.
Bear with me...this one is a bit out of my normal comfort zone and probably is a much better idea in theory than in practice, but I saw a girl wearing a tunic like this with a black cami and black leggings underneath it the other day. It seemed to show off the good parts of her figure while hiding other things. I' not really sure its me, but its worth a try maybe.
Love the little cutouts in this dress and the color/pattern!

Pink and Red? Yes!
I'm going to try to get back in the habit of posting at least one pic every day that catches my eye.
Today it was this one...I can not stop thinking about that pink and red dress paired with a long funky necklace. Recently I've been trying to stay away from pink because it usually feels too sweet to me but I love this combo. If only I knew where to get a similar dress...

Fab Find
I used to always order eggs benedict when I went out to breakfast because I didn't know how to poach eggs. Not any more.
I got a pair of poach pods over the weekend and it changed my life. Spencer and Nina were in town and using the poach pods Nina and I were able to whip up eggs benedict at home and it no time. It was a total success! If you haven't mastered poaching eggs I strongly suggest you purchase one of these.
All you have to do is boil water, crack and egg in the poach pod and let it float in the boiling water for 5 minutes. You'll end up with a perfect runny poached egg every time!

Shovels & Rope
This might be my new fav band. Alex saw them Tuesday night in Asheville, but of course I missed them since I was in Atlanta for meetings!
Our dear friend Marge used to represent them before they got signed and went big time!

Anthropologie Items of the Week
Still a little undecided on this one...don't love the bow/ruffle but I like the colors and there is a belt that's tied around back that would cinch the wasit which makes me like it more.
This looks like it would be very flatterin if its not too low cut.
This looks like it has the comfort of a maxi but would show a little leg. I love the print and colors!

Anthropologie Items of the Week
Y'all know I love a dress...but I haven't worn any since moving to Black Mountain because I feel too over dressed here. I think maxi dresses might be a good solution to this problem because they always look so laid back!

Hooked
I've forgotten what its like to live with a boy. Alex is actually pretty clean which makes moving in with him a pretty easy transition, but I can't help my need to have everything in it's proper place so I've been looking for a solution to storing all the hats and coats Alex throws wherever is most convenient when he walks in the door.
At first I thought a standing coat rack might work but then I started thinking more about some hooks we could just attach to the wall. I remembered Anthropologie having the type of hooks I had in mind so I went to their website to do a little research...

At first I thought about something like this, but will all the wood furniture we already have in the living room I thought it might be a little much
Then I saw this...still rustic, but not so much wood.
Then I started thinking maybe I just wanted a few hooks like this side by side. I'll probably try to duck into a store while I'm in Atlanta next week and make a final decision.

Couples Updates
I save all these pics a while back and forgot to post them so some of this may be old news to you now, but just in case you missed it...
They got married.
They're expecting.
They're expecting via surrogate.
They bought a house together.
Not pictured:
Jessica Simpson FINALLY had her baby.
Reese Witherspoon is expecting (I think I already posted about this but maybe not)
Anthropologie Items of the Week
Just one item since my last Anthropologie Items of the Week post...
I'm posting the green version so you can see the details in the dress better, but I think I'll get the black one so I can change up the colorful accessories I plan to wear with it.
