Style Inspiration

 

Loving this look - cute cover up, sunnies and a hat.  Perf for pool/lakeside days.  The fact that it would also work on a prego lady makes it the bonus jonas.

 

I thought vests were just an Asheville trend, but this lady lives in Texas.  I like the idea of vests with dresses to make outfits look a bit more edgy, but I'm not sure I could pull it off!

Love this cake topper.

 

Love this punch bowl.  It also makes me want to make a punch with an ice ring like that.

Really love these outdoor chairs...I've seen similar ones before and sadly they are super expensive.

 

Love this dark bedroom with light bedding.  Especially love the chandelier.

 

This pic is hard to see, sorry.  I really like the idea of the nook on the top picture.  Gong to start looking for old chairs that can be refinished and reupholstered.

I Love Lamp (In Kitchens)

There is a blog I started following a few years ago written by a decorator that is based in Atlanta...I think its called Design to Inspire or something like that.  Most of the time I just skim through her posts because her style doesn't quite match mine, but every now and then she writes a post that really gets me thinking.  A few years ago she posted one about brick patterns inside fire places which I had never thought about.  I think I spent and entire 6 mile run along the Chattahoochee telling Katie all about it (my preference is herringbone in case you were wondering).  Anyways, I particularly liked today's post for a variety of reasons...

 

 

The post was about lamps in kitchens.  The pic above is from Ina Garten's kitchen...she thinks lamps in kitchens make the room feel more homey and less like a laboratory. I agree.  The cord was either photoshoped out or it is a custom set up to hide the cord...pretty cool.

What I like about this kitchen is really the beams, the windows and the dual islands...one for food prep and one for eating.  This kitchen would be ideal for moms making dinner while supervising kids doing homework.

 

Such a big table IN the kitchen?  Not sure I could deal with this.

 

Love the shelves on the side of the island.  Also love the couch at the table...how many times have you been so full after dinner that you just wanted to lay down on a couch? Done.

Style Inspiration

Once again I'm cramming a bunch of things that are sort of style related into one post because I'm lazy...

 

 

Classic but modern...may have to try and find something like this in my closet for an upcoming business trip to Dallas.

 

Love the dress in this engagement session. I think it could also maybe be worn as a casual wedding dress.  I especially love it pair with that necklace.

 

Still trying to master how to place a bobby fin like this...seriously, why is it so difficult.

 

I love blush, but did she really need it all over her entire cheek?  Maybe just stick to the apples next time.

 

You can't really tell, but the classes on the left say bride.  Both would be super cute for a bachelorette party.

 

Don't think I'll ever go as short as the girl on the left again, but the cut screams sassy and fun to me!

Magic Carpet

The only REAL magic thing about these is that they make me very happy.  I've been collecting images of Persian rugs in all sorts of rooms for quite a while...

And now in my own house.  This picture isn't actually from my own house, but this rug now lives in front of my kitchen sink.

 

I found a great little store on Ebay for Persian rugs and this baby was super cheap.  Let me know if you want the name of the seller...I promise not to get into a bidding war with you!

Love that they used wooden crates to add some height variation to this buffet.

 

 

Its only a matter of time before I have a nook like this in my house somewhere.

 

I really wants some lights like this in my house somewhere...the problem is where to put them and how to string them so it doesn't look tacky.  Maybe they are better left outside I guess.

Utensil crocks

 

Once I start my pottery class I want to learn how to make utensil crocks.  I like that the one above on the right has little handles.

Feeling Crafty

I've been saving lots of craft ideas...now I just need time to start one of them!

 

 

I thought this was a cute tote.  I like the folky tomato.  I think I read somewhere that you can buy leather handles on etsy.  Don't they look so much more chic than regular handles?

I have a strange love of all things Elvis.  No wonder this caught my eye.  I might recreate it for the next birthday I celebrate.

 

I just like this for some reason.  Its soothing.  If I can't recreate it I'm sure I can find a high quality image to steal and claim is my own.  Kidding.  I wouldn't really do that.  Seriously.

When I went back at this one I remember wondering what about it made me save it.  The pulls on the dresser, NOT the paper lanterns.

 

I had a window nook like this in my bedroom growing up...I wish my mom would have put a love seat in it instead of a desk.  It would have been so much cooler and gotten way more use!

 

Once I have more of a forever home I'm going to seriously consider having built ins built all over my home.  I love this one in the dining room...so much good storage.  Look back a few weeks to see one I posted for a living room entertainment center.  I pretty much day dream about it every day. 

I'm Going to Be a Potter Like Demi Moore in Ghost.

I hardly even remember what Ghost is about, but I think I've wanted to do pottery on the wheel since I first saw Demi Moore doing it in the movie.  I've been collecting ideas of what all I want to make and hopefully I'll be able to take a class this summer.

 

 

Biscuit bowl.  We'd use this a whole lot.  Alex loves him a morning biscuit and I don't think he' mind me serving sister schuberts in this in the evenings.

 

It this weird?  I liked the planter, too bad some random somebody's dad is also in the pic.  If the owner of the pic ever sees this, sorry for posting a pic of your dad!

 

Love the mug and that little bowl on the right...it would be perf for jewelry!
